Tips for Selecting a Healthy Sphynx Kitten

Once you have gone through the process of selecting a reputable Sphynx cat breeder, your next step is the fun part – actually selecting your kitten! Just as important as choosing the right breeder, however, is choosing the right kitten so do not rush this process! You need to make sure that the kitten you bring home is in good health but you also want to make sure that it is a good fit for you and your family in terms of its temperament and personality. Follow the steps below to pick out your Sphynx kitten:
  • Ask the breeder to give you a tour of the facilities, especially where the kittens are kept.
    • Make sure the facilities where the kittens are housed is clean and sanitary – if there is evidence of diarrhea, do not purchase one of the kittens because they may already be sick.
  • Take a few minutes to observe the litter as a whole, watching how the kittens interact with each other.
    • The kittens should be active and playful, interacting with each other in a healthy way.
    • Avoid kittens that appear to be lethargic and those that have difficulty moving – they could be sick. Show More
